Black Stars defender Alidu Seidu has completed a high-profile transfer to Stade Rennais FC in a deal worth approximately €11 million, as Ghana Soccernet reports.
The versatile 23-year-old, who previously played for Clermont Foot, finalized the move after extensive negotiations between the two clubs. While several sources report the €11 million fee, Transfermarkt estimates the player’s value at €7 million.
Stade Rennais’ persistence paid off as they submitted their fourth bid, succeeding where the initial three were rejected by Clermont Foot. The official announcement of the transfer is expected to be made shortly after the conclusion of the ongoing African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
Seidu, a key player for the Ghana international team, has already reached a personal agreement with Stade Rennais. The final formalities of the transfer will be completed upon his return from the AFCON.
Despite his focus on the tournament, Seidu has had an impressive season, making 14 appearances in Ligue 1 and contributing with an assist. While he hasn’t featured for the Black Stars at the AFCON yet, he aims to secure a starting position against the Mambas of Mozambique on January 22, 2024.
The €11 million move to Stade Rennais marks a significant milestone in Seidu’s flourishing football career, highlighting his growing prominence as a defender.
The transfer underscores the confidence that Stade Rennais has in his abilities and positions Seidu for new challenges and achievements in French top-flight football.
