After his departure from Cardiff in 2022, Ntazana Mayembe took a hiatus from football to explore opportunities outside of the sport. In January 2023, Mayembe revealed to The Nerve Africa that he received numerous offers from Saudi Arabia, Dubai, and Egypt but didnβt take any.Β
During this period, he was also approached by a non-league English club with an offer to join their ranks. However, Mayembe turned down the offer, seeking opportunities to play at a higher level.
“He is aiming for top-level football and is not interested in playing for a non-league club. That’s why he rejected the offer,” a source close to the situation explained.
Mayembe spent eight years with Cardiff City, primarily within their youth system, before being released. Since then, he has remained out of competitive football. In September 2023, there were rumors of Mayembe joining Welsh club Garw. However, the player clarified that he had only been training with them without signing any contract.
Currently, Transfermarkt does not list a market value for Mayembe, who has made all his career moves as a free agent. This decision to turn down the non-league offer further underscores his desire to compete at a higher echelon of football, leaving his fans eager to see where his career will head next.
