Despite growing speculation linking Ghanaian defender Terry Yegbe with a potential move from Swedish club IF Elfsborg to English Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion, sources close to the player have denied any official contact, as per Africa Foot.
Reports in recent days have claimed that a deal between Brighton and Elfsborg was nearing completion. However, a highly placed source at AIT, the agency representing the 22-year-old, insists that there has been no formal approach.
“We get flattered when such reports come around, because it’s an indication that Terry (Yegbe) is performing well,” the source said. “But, to be honest, there’s nothing tangible at the moment. No one has made any formal approaches to us or the club. He has a running contract and is fully focused on playing well and improving. We’ll see what the future holds.”
Yegbe joined IF Elfsborg from Finnish club SJK Seinäjoki in 2024 and is currently in his second season with the Allsvenskan side. His current contract runs until 2028, and the club reportedly values him at around €6 million.
While his consistent league form has been impressive, it was his standout performances in the UEFA Europa League that elevated his profile across Europe. In his debut season, Yegbe made 22 league appearances and featured in 12 Europa League matches, including all eight group-stage games.
Elfsborg recorded notable wins over Roma, Qarabag, and Nice, but were eliminated following defeats to Tottenham Hotspur, Galatasaray, Athletic Club, and AZ Alkmaar.
Terry Yegbe Transfer Interest Builds Across Europe
In addition to Brighton, Premier League clubs Fulham, Crystal Palace, and Sheffield United have also been linked with interest in Yegbe, while Union Berlin and SC Freiburg are said to be monitoring him from Germany.
At the international level, Yegbe made his senior debut for the Ghana Black Stars in November 2024 during an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Niger. However, he did not feature in the recent World Cup qualifiers, where Ghana secured dominant wins over Chad (5–0) and Madagascar (3–0).
With no official bid on the table yet, Yegbe remains committed to his current club—but growing interest suggests a big move could be on the horizon in the near future.
