In a bid to strengthen their attacking force, English Premier League side West Ham have intensified their pursuit of Dutch-Ghanaian forward Brian Brobbey, attempting to lure him away from Eredivisie powerhouse Ajax.
West Ham manager Graham Potter is eager to bolster his frontline before the transfer deadline on February 3, having lost key players Niclas FΓΌllkrug, Jarrod Bowen, and Michail Antonio to long-term injury layoffs.
Sources close to Brobbeyβs representatives, Team Raiola, have confirmed that the London club has been in contact in recent hours and that personal terms have been agreed upon with the player.
βEverything is sorted between Brian (Brobbey) and West Ham following negotiations on personal terms. A verbal agreement has been reached, under which he will earn β¬119,000 (Β£100,000) per week if the move materializes. West Ham now needs to reach a settlement with Ajax in the coming days,β the source exclusively disclosed to The Nerve Africa.
Brobbey, who rejoined Ajax from RB Leipzig in 2022, has struggled to make a significant impact for the Eredivisie giants this season, scoring three goals and providing five assists in 29 appearances across all competitions, including the Eredivisie and the UEFA Europa League.
However, the 22-year-old had a relatively impressive 2023/24 season, scoring 22 goals and providing 12 assists in 43 games across all competitions. In the 2022/23 season, he netted 14 goals and recorded four assists in 44 appearances.
Meanwhile, aside from West Ham, Tottenham and Everton are also interested in the towering forward, though neither club has made a formal offer. Last season, he was linked with moves to both Chelsea and Manchester United, but no deal ultimately materialized.
