West Bromwich Albion are in advanced talks to sign Ghanaian defender Lumor Agbenyenu on a free transfer, as per Footy-Africa.
The 28-year-old will become a free agent on June 30 when his contract with Austrian side SV Ried expires. Agbenyenu made just 23 appearances during his 18-month stint in Austria, prompting the club to part ways with him.
A source close to his representatives at Think Forward confirmed that West Brom have offered a two-year deal, with negotiations ongoing over financial terms and playing-time guarantees.
“West Brom have a two-year contract on the table, with just a few details left to agree on. He’s interested and the club hopes to finalise the move soon,” the source said.
Agbenyenu, currently valued at €150,000 on Transfermarkt, has had spells in Portugal, Spain, Germany, Turkey, and Greece. Despite regular call-ups to Ghana’s national team, he has yet to earn a full senior cap.
