After months of speculation, Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC have finalized a deal to sign Ugandan international Jude Ssemugabi. Africa Foot confirmed that the 28-year-old forward has agreed to a two-year contract with the Venoms.
Ssemugabi, a versatile attacker capable of playing on the wing or as a center forward, is expected to officially join Vipers following the expiration of his current contract with Kitara FC on June 30.

This move comes after a previously failed attempt in January, when Kitara FC demanded a high compensation fee for the remainder of his contract. A source at Vipers confirmed the latest development:

Last week, there were intense talks at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, which Ssemugabi attended in person with his agent. Eventually, an agreement was reached, and he will sign as soon as he is officially off Kitaraβs books at the end of June.β
Vipers Target CAF Champions League Group Stages
Vipers SC are strengthening their squad for the 2025/26 CAF Champions League and are determined to reach the group stage this time. The early signing of Ssemugabi is part of the clubβs broader strategy to complete their transfer business swiftly and efficiently.
Impressive Domestic Campaign
In the recently concluded season, Ssemugabi made 32 appearances across the Uganda Premier League and Uganda Cup, scoring 12 goals and providing six assists. In the previous league campaign, he registered six goals and seven assists in 29 appearances.
Steady Rise with the Uganda Cranes
On the international front, Ssemugabi made his senior debut for the Uganda Cranes in 2023. Since then, he has earned seven caps, scored once, and provided two assists, further underlining his value at both club and national level.
