Uganda Cranes left-back Isaac Muleme’s future with Czech Republic side FK Viktoria Zizkov is uncertain, according to reliable sources speaking to The Nerve Africa.
A highly experienced left-back, Muleme’s family member in Kampala revealed that talks of a contract extension for the player have stalled, with the current one set to expire at the end of the 2023/2024 season in May. Although the club had opened the door for a new deal earlier in February, nothing concrete has since materialized.
“At the moment, Isaac and everyone is frustrated. It was positive in February, but there’s nothing clear at the moment. He is a professional who has faced this kind of situation before. He’ll continue to give his best until the end of the season.”, – told the source, close to the situation.Β
In 2023, Muleme signed a one-year contract extension with the club he joined in 2019. This season, he has played 23 matches in the Czech FNL (the second-tier league) and scored two goals. He has played 112 matches in all competitions since the 2018/2019 campaign.
Before moving to Europe, the 31-year-old had a short spell in Egypt with Hars el-Hodod Sporting Club during the 2017/18 season, where he made 13 appearances. In Europe, he also featured for Slovakian side Nitra on loan from Zizkov in 2020.
Muleme started his career in Uganda with record champions SC Villaβs youth ranks before featuring for the now-defunct SC Victoria University and 13-time holders KCCA FC.
He has earned 37 national team caps and was part of Uganda Cranesβ African Nations Championships team in 2014, 2016, 2018, as well as the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
