After days of rumors and reports, Uganda Cranes attacker Arafat Usama Kizza is, at long last, set to leave 13-time Uganda Premier League champions KCCA FC to join Egyptian Premier League outfit ZED FC, The Nerve Africa sources have exclusively learned.
Usama, whose contract with KCCA runs out in June 2025, has agreed on personal terms with the Egyptians. The latter are set to cover the remainder of the player’s contract, with KCCA demanding around €18,500.
A source at the player’s representing party, Prosper Sports Agency, disclosed that only fine margins remain before a deal is eventually sealed:
“The negotiations with the player were done on Thursday, and it’s now between the clubs. KCCA wants $18,500, which is a fair asking fee, as Usama has just a season left. He’ll be in Egypt next season, for sure.”
The 19-year-old winger, who had an outstanding season with KCCA both domestically and on the continent, is expected to sign a four-year employment contract with ZED, with an option for an additional season.
Last campaign, Usama played 26 matches in the Uganda Premier League and CAF Confederation Cup, scoring 10 goals and providing six assists. His consistency earned him calls to both the Uganda U20 team (Hippos) and the senior side (Uganda Cranes).
With the Uganda U20s, he helped them scoop silver at the All-Africa Games in Accra, Ghana, scoring three goals and providing two assists in five games. It was at this tournament that he caught the eye of potential suitors from all over the continent. Meanwhile, with the Cranes, having debuted last year, Usama has featured twice and is yet to record a goal contribution.
