Ugandan international defender Arnold Odong is set to part ways with record StarTimes Uganda Premier League champions SC Villa (17 titles), as his contract expires next month, as per Africa Foot.
The development comes amid reports linking the 26-year-old to South African top-flight side Richards Bay and Stanbic Uganda Cup holders Kitara FC. Odong’s contract with Villa is set to expire on June 30.
Speaking to Africa Foot, the towering centre-back confirmed that his time at Villa has come to an end, concluding a highly successful two-year spell. However, he remained tight-lipped about potential moves to Richards Bay or Kitara.
“It’s time up at this amazing club after two years that I am massively proud of,” Odong said. “I came to Villa with goals and a dream to win the Uganda Premier League—a feat I managed in the 2023/24 season—so I’m incredibly grateful for the time and moments.”
When asked about his next move, he added:
“My camp is doing whatever it takes to find another good home for me, and I have to be patient and trust the process. I know I’ll land at a club that matches my style and ambitions. The focus is to keep growing and maturing into a better player. I want to win things wherever I go.”
Odong has featured in 27 matches across the Uganda Premier League and Uganda Cup this season, contributing one goal and two assists. Over the past two seasons, he has played a total of 55 games for Villa in all competitions.
Internationally, Odong—whose versatility allows him to operate as a right-back or central midfielder—has earned multiple call-ups to the Uganda senior national team, the Uganda Cranes, and has registered two competitive caps.
