Less than five months after joining Telecom SC, Ugandan international left-back Mustafa Kizza is set to leave the Egyptian club due to unresolved financial issues, sources have told The Nerve Africa.
Kizza signed a two-year contract with Telecom in October 2024 after leaving Express FC, but he has yet to make an appearance for the team despite training regularly. His impending departure is linked to the clubβs failure to meet financial obligations agreed upon during contract negotiations.
A source from Elite Venture Sports, the agency representing Kizza, confirmed the playerβs imminent exit.
βKizza hasnβt played for the club despite training due to financial issues that remain unresolved. We had agreements, but the club has failed to honor them. We had hoped for a resolution, but their reluctance is disrespectful to the player. Unless something changes, we expect him back in Uganda later this week as we evaluate the next steps,β the source said.
Before moving to Egypt, Kizza played for Express FC, which he joined as a free agent at the start of the 2024-2025 season after leaving KCCA FC. He made three appearances for Express and 61 for KCCA.
The 25-year-old defender has also had stints abroad, playing for Major League Soccer (MLS) side CF MontrΓ©al in 2020 and featuring for Portuguese club Arouca SC in the 2022-2023 season.
On the international stage, Kizza has earned nine caps for Ugandaβs national team, the Cranes, since 2019, scoring one goal and providing two assists.
His next move remains uncertain, but a return to the Uganda Premier League appears to be a likely option.
