The Girondins de Bordeaux have officially announced the signing of Ugandan winger Travis Mutyaba from Villa SC via the club’s official website.
The 19-year-old, hailed as one of Uganda’s brightest football talents, joins the French club after an impressive stint in his home country and a loan spell at Egypt’s Zamalek SC.
Earlier in October, The Nerve Africa reported that Bordeaux and Villa SC had reached an agreement for Mutyaba’s transfer. Now, the move has been confirmed, with the young player set to strengthen Bordeaux’s attacking options.
Born on August 7, 2005, in Nansana, Uganda, Mutyaba began his career with Vipers SC before joining Villa SC in 2021. Last season, he spent time on loan at Zamalek, where he made 11 appearances across all competitions, including nine league matches. He also lifted the CAF Confederation Cup, Africa’s equivalent to the Europa League, with the Egyptian giants.
Mutyaba, an international player since age 16, has earned 15 caps for Uganda and scored once. He recently featured in Uganda’s September matches against South Africa (2-2) and Congo (2-0), playing in a number 10 role.
Capable of playing on the wings or in a central attacking position, Mutyaba is known for his creativity, ball distribution, and strong shooting ability. Bordeaux are eager to see what the young star can bring to the squad in the coming season.
