The Spurs have become the latest Premier League club to express interest in securing the services of Athletic Bilbao’s Spanish-Ghanaian star forward, Nico Williams, as per Football Ghana.
The Spanish international, 29, has attracted attention from several of England’s top clubs, thanks to his impressive performances for the Basque side over the last three seasons.
According to several sources the player’s buyout clause is around €50 million, (Transfermarkt estimates his current value at approximately the same level), hanging over him, Spurs are keenly observing the situation as they contemplate bolstering their squad under manager Ange Postecoglou.
The North Londoners are not alone in their pursuit of the talented midfielder: Chelsea has also shown interest, although their current focus remains on acquiring a central striker.
Williams’s contribution to Athletic Bilbao’s recent Copa del Rey victory, their first piece of silverware in 40 years, has only heightened the buzz around him. His performance in the tournament, capped off with an emotional celebration alongside his brother Iñaki Williams, has made headlines and endeared him further to fans and potential suitors alike.
Despite the growing interest from clubs abroad, Williams remains committed to Athletic Bilbao, having signed a new contract in December that extends his stay until 2027.
