Highly rated Ugandan midfielder Usama Arafat Kiza is at the center of a transfer tug-of-war between South African Premier Division clubs Marumo Gallants and TS Galaxy, who have both made direct contact over a potential deal, Footy-Africa understands.
The 20-year-old, whose contract with KCCA FC runs out at the end of June, is expected to leave the Ugandan giants after failing to reach an agreement on an extension. The growing interest from South Africa comes after earlier links with Durban City FC and Vipers SC.
According to a source close to his representatives at Prosper Sports Agency, talks are progressing quickly, with both Gallants and Galaxy pushing to finalize a move ahead of the summer window. Arafatβs camp is now weighing their options.
Despite battling injuries this season and making just 10 appearances for KCCA, Arafat still contributed four goals and three assists. His breakout 2022/23 campaign saw him bag 10 goals and six assists in 26 outings, earning international recognition with Ugandaβs U20 and senior teams. He was a standout performer at the 2024 All-Africa Games, guiding the Hippos to a silver medal and showcasing his attacking prowess.
Arafat has previously attracted interest from clubs across Africa, including Egyptβs ZED FC and Moroccoβs Wydad AC, though both moves collapsed due to contract issues and fitness concerns. Now fit and available, he is poised for a new chapterβand South Africa could be the next destination.
