Kenyan international midfielder Timothy Noor Ouma is set to complete a move from Swedish side IF Elfsborg to Czech club SK Slavia Prague in a deal estimated at β¬3.5 million (approximately 473 million Kenyan shillings).
Ouma, who traveled to the Czech Republic to undergo his medical and sign a three-year contract, is expected to be unveiled over the weekend. He was left out of Elfsborg’s Europa League squad that faced Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday.
His compatriot, Dennis Oliech, one of Kenyaβs greatest footballers, has backed the move, emphasizing that Ouma will thrive and continue his upward trajectory.
βI think it’s a good and well-calculated move for Timothy (Ouma); he knows exactly what he’s doing,β Oliech, who scored 34 goals in 76 competitive appearances for the Kenyan national team, told The Nerve Africa in an exclusive interview.
βSlavia Prague is a top team that guarantees European football every season, and those are the biggest stages to showcase your talent as you aim for bigger dreams. So, for me, he’s a young player taking big steps in the right direction,β he added.
Ouma, 20, has been one of the most important players in Elfsborg’s midfield this season, having initially struggled to find his footing at the Swedish club. He joined Elfsborg from Nairobi City Stars in 2022.
βLook at where he’s come from and where he is now in just three years. If the move to Slavia Prague goes through, it will mark the beginning of something big. He has so many years ahead of him, and I wonβt be surprised if he eventually makes it to the top European leagues in a few years,β added the former Nantes and Auxerre forward.
Ouma has been a regular starter in Elfsborgβs midfield, playing 13 games so far in the 2024-25 season, scoring two goals and providing one assist. Last season, he featured 24 times, scoring one goal across all competitions.
