Uganda Cranes and Kitara FC midfielder Frank βZagaβ Tumwesigye has revealed his ambition to secure a move to Europe as his current contract with Kitara approaches its end.
The 26-year-oldβs contract is set to expire on June 30, 2025, and he is expected to make a major decision about his future in the coming weeks. In an exclusive interview with Africa Foot, Tumwesigye made it clear that while he is open to local offers, his top priority is a move abroad.
βMy Priority Is Europeβ β Tumwesigye
βI’m anxious about my next home. I still don’t know where I’ll be next season, but I’ll not rush into any move,β Tumwesigye said. βI’m not closing doors on a local move, but my priority is Europe.β
βMy camp is doing whatever it takes to secure a good move for me, and I’ll take whatever they table. We are aligned on the same plan, and that’s Europe.
I’ve worked hard this season and my entire career for something like that.β
Linked to Royal Charleroi, But No Formal Talks
Reports have linked Tumwesigye with a potential switch to Belgian Pro League side Royal Charleroi SC, but the player downplayed those rumours, saying no official discussions have taken placeβthough he remained open-minded.
βI don’t know about all that. I’m never in charge of that kind of business. Like I said, I have people who deal with transfers and stuff like that. If you ask me if I’ve met anyone to discuss my future, it’s not trueβbut you never know what the future holds in football.β
Solid Season with Kitara FC
Tumwesigye has had a productive season with Kitara FC, featuring in 28 matches across the Uganda Premier Leagueand Uganda Cup, scoring three goals and providing six assists.
A graduate of the renowned St. Maryβs Kitende football program, he was promoted to Vipers SCβs senior team in the 2016/17 season, helping them win the league title the following year.
He later featured for Express FC and Police FC on loan, before returning to Vipers to win his second Uganda Premier League title in 2022/23, alongside a Uganda Cup.
International Experience
Tumwesigye boasts experience at every youth level for Uganda, having represented the country at U-15, U-17, U-21, and U-23 levels. He has also earned four senior caps with the Uganda Cranes, further highlighting his pedigree as a well-rounded and seasoned midfielder.
