Barely two months after joining seven-time Uganda Premier League champions Express FC, left-back Mustafa Kizza is already on the move, as he is on the verge of completing a deal with Telecom Egypt SC, The Nerve Africa has exclusively learned.
Kizza had signed a season-long contract with Express after a failed move to North Macedonia’s Bregalnica Stip but will now depart after just four games. Telecom Egypt and Express have reached an agreement for the transfer of the player, who will sign a two-year contract with the North African side.
The 25-year-old will subsequently travel to Egypt on Monday for his medical tests, before signing his contract. He is expected to form part of the club’s core in their bid to reach the Egyptian Premier League from the Second Division.
“Consider it a done deal,” a source at his representing agency, Elite Venture Sports, told The Nerve Africa in an exclusive interview. “His flight to Egypt is booked for Monday. We’re thankful to Express, who were lenient in their terms when Telecom came knocking. He’s in fine shape and ready to get moving.”
Kizza’s journey has seen him rise from the KCCA FC Academy, spending time on loan with Maroons FC at the beginning of the 2016-17 season, and then playing for KCCA’s senior team between 2017 and 2020 in his first spell. He later joined Montreal Impact in Canada and Arouca FC in Portugal before returning to KCCA last season.
At the international level, Kizza has earned nine competitive caps with Uganda’s national senior team, the Cranes, since 2019. In that time, he has scored one goal and provided two assists. He has also featured at the youth levels for Uganda’s U-15, U-17, and U-20 national teams.
