Former Black Stars midfielder Laryea Kingston believes Mohammed Kudus‘ recent struggles with the Black Stars will not hinder his chances of securing a move to a top club in the future.
Kudus missed a last-minute penalty as Ghana lost 2-1 to Niger in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and has failed to score for the senior national team since netting a brace against Egypt at the 2023 AFCON.
The 24-year-old has been linked in recent months with a potential €100 million move to Arsenal, while Liverpool and other clubs have also reportedly shown interest.
Laryea, who once coached Kudus at the Right to Dream Academy, thinks his leadership qualities and strong mentality place him in a good position to secure a big move in the future.
“With Kudus, I’ve known him since he was about 14 or 15. With the kind of character that guy has, nobody can break him. Apart from his qualities and potential, he has a positive mindset. I know he’s having a very difficult time with the national team, but Europeans see things differently. When you look at his performances, from Right to Dream to FC Nordsjælland, he’s always been a leader”, Kingston exclusively told The Nerve Africa
“You can see a lot of top clubs have wanted him since his youth. This kid has been very smart. I don’t think his performances with the national team will affect his chances of a move,”, — he added.
The Black Stars failed to qualify for the AFCON for the first time in two decades, finishing bottom of Group F in the qualifiers with just three points.
