Modou Barrow

In the 2022/2023 season, Sivasspor narrowly avoided relegation from the Super Lig by just one point. To bolster their attacking line, the Turkish club secured the loan of Gambian winger Modou Barrow, whose influence on the team’s gameplay has been positive despite less impressive statistics.

Modou Barrow’s Salary at Sivasspor

The Gambian national team winger joined the Turkish side in the summer of 2023 on loan from Al-Ahli Saudi FC, with the agreement set to last until June 30, 2024. For the 2023/2024 season, Barrow will earn €780,000, excluding bonuses, amounting to €15,000 per week.

Career Salary Comparison

Modou Barrow

Barrow’s first two loan spells from Swansea City A.F.C. did not bring about significant changes in his salary. However, during his half-year stint with Leeds United F.C., he earned nearly one and a half times more than the previous 2.5 years combined. The move to Leeds marked the highest point in Barrow’s career earnings.

Subsequently, Barrow’s salary experienced a gradual decline. After signing a permanent contract with Reading F.C., his earnings returned to the level he had at the beginning of the 2014/2015 season. A subsequent loan to Denizlispor resulted in a marginal increase of €2,500. After a successful statistical period in the Korean league, Barrow moved to Saudi Arabia and then to Turkey, experiencing a 1.2-fold decrease in salary once again.

Market Value: Gambian in Sivasspor’s Top 10 Most Expensive Players

Modou Barrow’s transfer market value first exceeded €1 million immediately after his move to England. His transfer fee consistently increased, reaching its peak in the summer of 2016 with Swansea City A.F.C., remaining at this level for a year. Currently, Transfermarkt estimates Barrow’s market value at €850,000. Despite this, he holds the ninth position among Sivasspor’s most expensive players.

National Team Achievements

Modou Barrow

Barrow made his debut for the Gambian national team in 2015, participating in the country’s first-ever African Cup of Nations in 2022. Although he missed the initial group stage match, Barrow played in the remaining games, contributing to the team’s surprising advancement to the quarterfinals. However, he has not been called up to the national team since the tournament. Barrow has played 17 matches for the national team, scoring two goals and providing one assist.

Football and Salary Prospects

Making his debut for Sivasspor in the fourth round, Barrow has only missed four matches due to injury since then. During this time, he scored one goal in a victorious match against Pendikspor. If Barrow can establish himself in the Turkish team, there is a possibility that the club will offer him a permanent contract with improved terms.
