Ghanaian winger Collins Kudjoe has opened up on his recent move to Ethiopian Premier League side Mechal SC, saying the club’s strong belief in his potential was a major factor in his decision to leave Nsoatreman FC.
The 23-year-old completed his transfer in early April, marking his first move outside Ghana. Kudjoe, currently valued at €100,000 by Transfermarkt, signed a six-month deal with an option to extend for an additional year.
“My focus is fully on giving everything for Mechal SC and making the most of this opportunity,” Kudjoe told The Nerve Africa in an exclusive interview. “I’m taking it one game at a time and doing my best to help the team succeed. I believe in growth and timing. If staying longer in Ethiopia helps me develop and achieve more, I’m open to that.”
Kudjoe began his senior career with Inter Allies before moving to Kotoku Royals, and later Nsoatreman FC, where he made a name for himself in the CAF Confederation Cup qualifiers earlier this season.
“I did have a few offers on the table, but Mechal SC really stood out for me,” he added. “The club showed genuine interest in me—not just as a player, but as someone they believed could make a real impact. I had great conversations with the coaching staff, and their plans for me really aligned with my strengths. The passion of the fans, the structure of the league, and the opportunity to be part of something special were all key factors in my decision.”
Farewell to Nsoatreman FC
Kudjoe also expressed heartfelt gratitude to his former club Nsoatreman, where he spent two productive seasons in the Ghana Premier League.
“I want to sincerely thank the entire Nsoatreman FC team—from the management and coaching staff to my amazing teammates and, most importantly, the passionate supporters,” he said.
The forward scored six goals in his debut season with the club and added four more in the current campaign before Nsoatreman withdrew from the league due to safety concerns for staff and players.
Kudjoe was recently named on the bench as Mechal SC defeated Mekelle 70 Enderta in Ethiopian top-flight action, and he is now awaiting his debut appearance for the club.
As he begins a new chapter in East Africa, Kudjoe remains focused on growth, development, and helping Mechal SC push forward in the Ethiopian Premier League.
