Following the expiration of his contract with six-time Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC, versatile midfielder Marvin Joseph Youngman is set to make his first move abroad by joining Horsens in Denmark’s second-tier football league, The Nerve Africa sources have exclusively learned.
Youngman, who has spent two injury-laden seasons with Vipers, has attracted interest from Horsens, who already have two Ugandan players on their roster: midfielder Moses Opondo and winger-cum-forward Rogers Mugisha.
A representative from Prosper Sports Agency, which represents Youngman, disclosed that they have held positive talks with the club and that an agreement is imminent.Β
βMarvin is talented and has massive potential but has been unlucky at Vipers with injuries. If the move to Horsens materializes, that would yet again be a testament to what he is capable of. We’ve held positive talks, and that’s all I can tell you right now.β
Youngman is expected to be a significant addition to the club, as he has the potential to adapt to both defensive and attacking roles in midfield. At Vipers, he was primarily deployed as a deep-lying midfielder, a position in which he excelled on multiple occasions.
Last season, as Vipers finished third in the Uganda Premier League and reached the quarterfinals of the Uganda Cup, he featured 17 times. He also played twice in the preliminary rounds of the 2023/24 CAF Champions League. In the 2022/23 campaign, he appeared on 16 occasions across all competitions.
Since making his debut in 2022, Youngman has accumulated six international caps for the Uganda National Senior team, the Cranes. He has yet to score a goal but has managed two assists.
