French Ligue 1 side Le Havre have offered Ghana captain and experienced forward Andre Ayew a new contract, The Nerve Africa has exclusively learned.
After returning to the club, Ayew signed a one-year contract as a free agent. He has since impressed Le Havre’s top brass, prompting them to offer him an extension, potentially keeping him at the club until at least June 2026.
Sources close to the player’s representatives, Wasserman, have revealed that the club has made contact regarding a new deal for Ayew. The 35-year-old is one of the most experienced players in the squad, and his leadership has particularly stood out.
“The club has reached out and is serious about keeping Ayew, as they want him to sign a new contract. We are engaged in numerous discussions to evaluate whether it’s the best move for him going forward. He’s happy at the club and in the city, so negotiations are not expected to be complicated. The chances of him staying at Le Havre are very high, as the club truly appreciates his contributions,” the source exclusively told The Nerve Africa.
Since rejoining Le Havre in October last year, Ayew—whose Transfermarkt valuation is now estimated at €700,000—has scored three goals in 16 appearances across Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France.
Meanwhile, Ayew’s career dates back to his time at Olympique Marseille, where he started as a youth prospect during the 2006-07 season. He broke into the first team the following season, marking the beginning of a near-decade-long spell with the senior squad.
Ayew made 209 appearances for Marseille, scoring 60 goals and providing 25 assists while winning two Coupe de la Ligue titles and three Trophée des Champions. He later moved on and has since played for Swansea City, West Ham United, and Nottingham Forest in England, as well as Fenerbahçe in Turkey and Qatari side Al Sadd FC.
On the international stage, Ayew is Ghana’s most-capped player, having played 120 matches for the Black Stars, scoring 24 goals and recording six assists. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest players to have ever worn the national team jersey.
