Contrary to media reports, Kenyan versatile forward Alfred Scriven will not be leaving Norwegian First Division side Bryne FK for Lyn Football Club, The Nerve Africa has exclusively learned.
Reports in Kenya and Norway had indicated that the 26-year-old was close to agreeing to a deal to join Lyn, which also competes in Norway’s top-flight league. Some reports even mentioned β¬750,000 as the fee agreed between the clubs for the player’s transfer.
However, Scriven, who remained on the bench as Kenya lost 1-0 to Cameroon in the Africa Cup of Nations qualification match on Monday in Uganda, has dismissed the reports, insisting that he has no plans to leave Bryne, calling the reports entirely false.
βThe rumors have always been there, but they are all completely false, with no basis. My focus is to finish the season strongly and continue at Bryne next season as well. Look, Iβm happy at the club, playing well, and weβre in a good position to compete further. Iβm not thinking about leavingβit hasnβt crossed my mind,β he said in an exclusive interview with The Nerve Africa.
Itβs worth noting that Scriven, whose Transfermarkt valuation is estimated at β¬250,000, only joined Bryne in April this year, signing a three-year contract. Since then, he has played 29 games, scoring nine goals and providing four assists.
Scriven has spent his entire club career in Norway, previously playing for HΓΈdd, MjΓΈndalen IF (in two spells), Asker SK, and Ullensaker/Kisa. With these four clubs, he made 135 appearances, scoring 35 goals and delivering eight assists.
For the Kenya National Senior team, the Harambee Stars, he has earned just two competitive caps since his debut in 2023 and is yet to register a direct goal involvement.
