Kenyan midfielder Marvin Nabwire Omondi is on the verge of completing a summer move to Swedish top-flight outfit IF Elfsborg, The Nerve Africa sources have exclusively learned.
The 28-year-old, who currently plays for Kenya Police FC in the Kenya Premier League, has reached an agreement with Elfsborg to join them when the 2024/25 season concludes. His contract with Police FC is set to expire in June 2025.
According to sources close to his representatives, ACFA, Nabwire will sign a three-year contract with Elfsborg in principle this month before officially joining them after finishing his tenure with Police FC at the end of the season.
The source also disclosed that the versatile attacking midfielder will receive around β¬50,000 (approximately 7,000,000 Kenyan Shillings) as a signing bonus and monthly wages of β¬30,000 (about 4,000,000 Kenyan Shillings).
βThis will be Nabwire’s final season at Kenya Police, and he will head to Europe for the first time. An agreement with Elfsborg in Sweden is in place; documents will be signed this month and then again in June next year. We have worked tirelessly to secure him this move, and he’s ready to make it count when the time comes,β the source told The Nerve Africa in an exclusive interview.
Nabwire has made 11 appearances in the Kenya Premier League and the CAF Confederation Cup for Kenya Police this season, contributing three goals and two assists. He has also previously played for Kenyan giants AFC Leopards.
On the international stage, after debuting for the Kenya National Senior team (Harambee Stars) in 2018, Nabwire has since earned 13 caps and scored one goal. He is also part of the squad that will face Zimbabwe and Namibia in the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
