Kenyan international Henry Atola Meja is set to return to his Swedish top-flight parent club AIK Solna following his loan spell at third-tier outfit AFC Eskilstuna, The Nerve Africa sources have exclusively learned.
The 22-year-old will leave Eskilstuna at the end of November to focus on securing a spot at AIK, where he is contracted at least until September 2026. He has been on loan with Eskilstuna since March this year. This has been his second loan stint in Sweden, following a previous spell at Norrby IF in the second division in 2023.
A source close to Meja’s representatives, Atotos Sports Management, revealed that the player had been recalled by AIK and that they do not intend to send him on a third loan spell. The source also added that Meja is open to the decision and ready to compete for a spot in the senior team.
βHe [Meja] will return to AIK at the end of the month, and there wonβt be another loan deal. He has strong confidence in himself and is ready to work hard to help the team reach its goals. His contract has two years remaining, and we want to see him in the top flight during this period,β the source told The Nerve Africa in an exclusive interview.
During his debut season in Sweden, Meja made three appearances for AIK in the Allsvenskan (top flight) before joining Norrby on loan, where he scored four goals in 13 league appearances. At Eskilstuna, Meja has played 28 times, scoring five goals and providing two assists.
At the international level with Kenyaβs senior national team, the Harambee Stars, the strikerβwhose Transfermarkt valuation is estimated at β¬100,000 β has earned three competitive caps but is yet to score a goal.
