Kenyan striker Jonah Ayunga will part ways with Scottish Premier League team St. Mirren at the end of the season, according to sources speaking to The Nerve Africa.
Ayunga’s contract with St. Mirren is set to expire on May 31, and the club has decided against extending the agreement. The 26-year-old’s representatives at Midad Sports Management are actively seeking his next club for the upcoming season.
Since joining St. Mirren at the start of the 2022/2023 campaign, the center-forward has struggled to find his form. Over two seasons in the Scottish Premier League, he has scored only five goals in 36 matches. Including appearances in the Scottish Cup and the League Cup, Ayunga has scored a total of nine goals in 43 matches over the same period. This season, he has managed to score just twice in 19 appearances across all competitions.
Despite being only 26 years old, Ayunga has already played for several teams, including Morecambe, Bristol Rovers, and Sutton in England, as well as Galway and Sligo Rovers FC in the Republic of Ireland. According to Transfermarkt his current value is estimated at β¬425,000
On the international stage, Ayunga has appeared once for the Kenyan national team, the Harambee Stars, in a match against Malawi in March 2024, which they won 4-0. His first call-up to the national team was six years earlier, in 2018.
