French second-tier Grenoble Football Club (GF38) has confirmed via their official website the signing of Lamin Jarjou. The move was earlier reported by The Nerve Africa.
The 22-year-old winger, born in Gambia but possessing dual Gambian and Senegalese nationality, has earlier terminated his contract with Al-Hilal SC in Sudan.
Jarjou’s journey began at Casa Sports in Senegal, where he played a pivotal role in winning both the national championship and the cup. His remarkable talent did not go unnoticed, attracting the interest of several clubs across Europe. Ultimately, he made a move to Al Hilal in Sudan, participating in the African Champions League.
However, just eight months after his arrival in Sudan, the outbreak of a war conflict forced Jarjou to leave the country. Now, Lamin Jarjou is set to embark on a new chapter in his career, wearing the colors of GF38, for which he has chosen the number 12 jersey. The talented winger has committed to the club until June 2026.
Expressing his excitement about joining GF38, Jarjou stated, “I am very happy to arrive at GF38, a club where I will progress. I want to help the club, which has great ambition. Since the beginning of the season, I have watched all of Grenoble’s matches, and I think I already know almost all the player names. I have started learning French, which is helping me a lot, and I plan to speak the language as soon as possible.”
Jarjou also mentioned that he personally knows Bamba and Saikou Touray, who convinced him that the GF38 project was the right fit for him. He described his playing style, saying, “My profile is somewhat similar to Bamba’s; I can play on the wings as well as in a supporting role for the striker. I am fast, I enjoy one-on-one situations, and I equally love providing assists and scoring goals, as long as the team wins.”
After enduring the hardships of leaving war-torn Sudan, Jarjou individually trained in Gambia with a personal coach. He eagerly anticipates the opportunity to train and reach the required physical level, acknowledging that it may take some time, especially as this is his first experience in European football.
The players current transfer value is estimated by Transfermark at €227,000.
