Gambian player Gaira Joof has won a case at the FIFA Football Tribunal for outstanding remuneration and breach of contract without just cause against an Indian club, Real Kashmir FC.
The player and Real Kashmir FC concluded an employment contract valid from 13 October 2023 until 31 May 2024. The player made some of the following claims:
The Claimant argued that the Respondent failed to assist him in obtaining a visa, leading to contract termination. The Claimant further argued that the club registered another player in place of him before the league commenced.
The Claimant argued that the termination was unilateral and that he was not responsible for visa delays. The Claimant also argued that the termination was effective on 10 November 2023.
FIFA has partially accepted the claim of Gaira Joof and ordered Real Kashmir FC to pay the player €2,800 (251,367 INR) as outstanding remuneration plus 5% interest.
The club must also pay Gaira €19,700 (1,759,569 INR) as compensation for breach of contract without just cause plus 5% interest.
The Nerve Sources understand that the club has now been banned by FIFA from registering both national and international players until the due payment is made to the Gambian player.
