Danish Superliga giants FC Copenhagen have entered negotiations with Swedish Allsvenskan club IFK Norrköping for the potential signing of rising Ghanaian defender Kojo Peprah Oppong, as per Africa Foot.
The 20-year-old has been a standout performer for Norrköping this season, catching the attention of Copenhagen head coach Jacob Neestrup, who has now prioritized his signing. With just one year left on Oppong’s contract, Norrköping are keen to avoid losing him for free in June 2026.
According to a source at UKSPORTMANAGEMENT.COM, which represents the talented Ghanaian, Copenhagen have already initiated formal contact with Norrköping. The Danish club are looking to secure Oppong on a four-year deal at the Parken Stadium.
“Copenhagen have closely monitored the player, alongside clubs like Midtjylland. But it’s Copenhagen who’ve made the first move. The head coach personally sanctioned the pursuit, so things could move very quickly. Norrköping don’t want to risk losing him as a free agent next summer,” the source told Africa Foot.
Oppong, currently valued at €300,000 on Transfermarkt, has made 17 appearances for Norrköping this season, completing the full 90 minutes in 15 of those matches. Known for his physicality, tactical intelligence, and versatility across the backline, he is considered one of the most promising young defenders in Sweden.
The defender previously featured for Norrköping’s reserve side and spent two seasons on loan at GIF Sundsvall, where he accumulated 41 appearances and gained valuable first-team experience.
While Oppong has yet to debut for Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars, a move to a more competitive league like the Danish Superliga could accelerate his path to international recognition.
