Talking to The Nerve Africa, Zambian forward Fashion Sakala has asserted his dedication to current club Al Fayha in Saudi Arabia, dispelling any thoughts of a return to Europe.
Sakala, who made a lucrative move in the last transfer window, expressed contentment with his present situation.
The former Rangers FC star, known for his prolific stint in Scotland, stated, “Right now, I am not thinking about that [returning to Europe]. I am happy in Saudi and fully focused on my team.” Sakala’s decision marks a shift from his successful two-year period at Rangers, where he notched up 24 goals and 15 assists in 91 appearances, including clinching the Scottish Cup title.
Despite his impactful performance in the 2022 UEFA Europa Final against Frankfurt, Sakala’s departure from Rangers surprised many fans. The 26-year-old’s peak form coincided with the dismissal of manager Michael Beale.
Sakala’s current priorities lie beyond the field, as he expressed a desire to contribute to Zambia’s World Cup qualifiers. “This time I want to help my country in the World Cup qualifiers. I am not even thinking about transfers. I am committed to Al Fayha,” Sakala affirmed in his interview with The Nerve Africa.
The current market value of the Zambian international is estimated at €5,5 million according to Transfermarkt.
