According to the Italian transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano the English-Nigerian Arsenal’s attacking midfielder Ethan Nwaneri is set to sign his first adult pro contract with the club.
Back in June, Nwaneri,16, put an end to the speculation surrounding his future by agreeing to a scholarship deal with the Gunners. This scholarship deal is set to transition into a professional contract once he reaches the age of 17, which will occur in six months.
Before committing his future to Arsenal, several top clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United, and Manchester City had expressed interest in securing the services of this English youth international of Nigerian descent.
In the current season, Nwaneri has arguably been the standout performer for Arsenal’s U21 team, notably achieving his first competitive hat-trick in this age group. He has also opened his account in both the Premier League 2 and the UEFA Youth League.
Ethan Nwaneri made history by becoming the youngest-ever player to grace the Premier League stage when he made his senior debut for Arsenal against Brentford on September 18, 2022, at the age of 15 years and 181 days. This achievement surpassed the record previously held by Harvey Elliott.
Providing insight into Nwaneri’s future, Fabrizio Romano mentioned on the Here We Go podcast, via The Boot Room, “Another contract extension they completed in the summer, it was a scholarship deal but he is going to sign an important contract. He will continue his journey at Arsenal. Nwaneri is one of the emerging talents born in 2007. We have many young players worldwide making their mark on the big stage, and I believe Nwaneri is going to be one of the next ones because he possesses a unique talent. Arsenal is planning to extend his contract, not only the scholarship deal that was signed in the summer but also a long-term deal in the future.”
In the 203/24 season, Nwaneri has contributed to seven goals (5 goals and 2 assists) in six appearances for Arsenal’s youth teams.
The rising star has his profile on the Transfermarkt website, but yet to have his estimated transfer value.
