Ghanaian midfielder Eric Taylor is on the verge of extending his stay with Kongsvinger IL Toppfotball, with fresh terms set to be agreed following productive discussions between the player and club officials, as per Footy-Africa.
The 24-year-oldβs current deal is due to expire at the end of 2025, but Kongsvinger are eager to tie him down with an enhanced contract that would keep him at the club through the 2027/28 season. The move is part of a broader effort to secure the clubβs core talent ahead of the next phase of their First Division title pursuit.
Talks with his management team at Aneke Player Management Group are said to be nearing conclusion after nearly a fortnight of back-and-forth. A source close to the negotiations confirmed to Footy-Africa that both parties are satisfied with the key terms, and a formal agreement is expected soon.
Kongsvingerβs urgency is fueled in part by interest from top-tier side StrΓΈmsgodset, who have reportedly been monitoring Taylorβs situation in recent weeks.
βBoth sides are very close to finalizing a deal,β the source revealed. βEric is seen as essential to the teamβs ambitions this season, and the club wants to ensure theyβre not caught off guard by interest from higher divisions.β
Taylor has featured prominently this season, playing in nine of Kongsvingerβs 10 league and cup games, with two goals and an assist to his name. He registered 29 appearances last season and has now played 58 matches in total for the club.
Before his arrival at Kongsvinger, Taylor was on the books of LillestrΓΈm SK, where he came through the youth ranks and briefly featured in the senior squad during the 2021/22 campaign.
Despite receiving call-ups in the past, Taylor is yet to make his senior debut for Ghanaβs national team. His current market valuation stands at β¬225,000, according to Transfermarkt.
