Zambian striker Patson Daka finally started his first match for Leicester City in the English Championship, scoring and assisting as his side thrashed Plymouth 4-0.Β
Daka, who prior to Saturdayβs match only made two cameo appearances from the bench, took his chances and impressed. The player has been a centre of transfer talk with AFC Bournemouth and AC Milan, almost signing him in the last transfer window, but deals fell through on deadline day.Β
However reacting after scoring his first goal of the season, Daka revealed he will make a decision as time goes on, stating that he is always ready to play despite being sidelined by Enzo Maresca at Leicester City.Β
βI have been waiting for this opportunity[to play], like I said; we all knew it was coming. For me, I am always staying ready so I donβt have to be ready.β
On his future at Leicester City the 25-year-old Zambian striker who is valued at β¬15 million by Transfermarkt said, βI just have to keep on working hard to see what happens as we go on.βΒ
Daka has been tipped by many to move on and his coach Maresca is unsure if the former Red Bull Salzburg striker will stay in January. βI swear, serious. Patson [Daka] is one of our players. We are happy. If he is not happy and he wants to leave, weβll see. Now itβs about Wednesday.β
Leicester City will face Millwall on Wednesday in the Championship and Daka is expected to be part of the squad again as Kelechi Iheanacho and Jamie Vardy are likely going to be unavailable according to Maresca.
