AS Cittadella and Ugandan international Elio Capradossi have reopened negotiations over a contract extension after talks were previously put on hold in March, as per Africa Foot.
The Italian club had initially offered Capradossi a three-year extension after he joined as a free agent in November 2023. The centre-back signed a short-term deal running until June 30, 2024. However, discussions stalled as the club turned its full attention to avoiding relegation from Serie Bβan objective they ultimately failed to achieve.
With just over a month left on his contract, talks between Cittadella and Capradossi are back on the table. The 28-year-old defender has impressed in his short stint, earning plaudits for his consistent performances.
New Terms Following Relegation to Serie C
A representative from All4Football, the agency managing Capradossi, confirmed that discussions have resumed. However, he noted that the terms under consideration differ from those initially proposed, due to Cittadellaβs relegation to Serie C.
βItβs now fresh talks and new terms if Capradossi is to stay at Cittadella,β the source said. βThere was a deal in place in March, but it was paused as the club focused on avoiding the drop. Unfortunately, they couldnβt manage it, and thatβs shifted their transfer strategy. Itβs now more complicated. Capradossi loves the city, and itβs highly likely heβll sign a new two-year deal.β
Capradossi’s Impact at Cittadella
Since his arrival, Capradossi has made 16 appearances for Cittadella, playing the full 90 minutes in ten of themβincluding eight of the last ten matches. A product of the AS Roma academy, he has previously featured for Bari, Spezia, SPAL, Cagliari, and Lecco in the Italian leagues.
International Career With Uganda
On the international front, Capradossi made his debut for Ugandaβs national team, the Cranes, in June 2024. He played a key role in a 1β0 victory over Botswana during the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers and has since earned six competitive caps.
