Following an impressive start to his loan spell, Swedish football club BK Häcken had plans to sign Zambian winger Edward Chilufya permanently, but change of management may influence the situation, according to The Nerve Africa sources.
Chilufya, who is currently on loan from Danish club Midtjylland, was seen as a potential acquisition by the club after his loan term ends this summer.

Having previously played in Swedish football with Djurgårdens IF from 2018 to 2022, Chilufya’s experience was deemed crucial for the team. During his time at Djurgårdens, he scored 17 goals and provided 9 assists in 71 appearances across all competitions.
In 2022, he transferred to Midtjylland in a deal worth €3.5 million, but then returned to Sweden after joining BK Häcken on loan. His return to Swedish football with BK Häcken has been spectacular. Since his debut at the club, Chilufya has scored 5 goals in just 7 games, playing a significant role in Häcken’s third-place finish in the Allsvenskan.
Yet, the appointment of new manager Pål Arne Johansen in January has introduced uncertainty regarding Häcken’s interest in signing the fast Zambian winger. It is understood that the coach does not see him fitting into his plans, and his injury history complicates matters further.
Sources close to the player indicate that Chilufya wishes to remain in Sweden, which he considers his new home, but the final decision rests with the club and coach.
Amid these developments, negotiations between Häcken and Midtjylland, initially set to begin before the summer transfer window, have now stalled.
Chilufya might return to his parent club, where he previously had limited playing time, having scored only six goals in 61 appearances.
