Ugandan defender Elio Capradossi is close to signing for Italian Serie C side Delfino Pescara 1936, having agreed on personal terms, The Nerve Africa has exclusively learned.
This development comes weeks after his failed moves to Romanian top-flight sides CFR Cluj and Rapid Bucharest. Both teams had expressed interest in securing the player’s signature but failed to meet his demands for sign-on fees.
His agency, All4Football, has since opened talks with Pescara, and the parties reached a mutual agreement on Tuesday. A source close to All4Football disclosed that the Italian side has offered โฌ65,000 (about 270 million Uganda Shillings) in sign-on fees and a two-year contract to Capradossi.
โThere was a bit of disappointment when he (Capradossi) missed out on two teams in three days. But we all stayed positive, and now he has a better deal with Pescara. They’ve tabled sign-on fees of โฌ65,000 and two years. He’s thrilled, as Italy is literally his home,โ the source said.
The 28-year-old has been a free agent since the expiration of his contract with Italian Serie C side Calcio Lecco 1912 at the conclusion of the 2023/24 campaign in June. There, he made only six appearances, having endured a spell on the sidelines due to injury.
Valued at โฌ300,000 by Transfermarkt, Capradossi played 17 times for Cagliari during the preceding 2022/23 season. He has also previously appeared for other Italian clubs, including SSC Bari, SPAL, Spezia, and AS Roma, where he spent his youth career.
Meanwhile, despite playing for Italy at various youth levels, including U17, U19, and U20, he has represented Uganda at the senior international level. He made his debut this year, earning two caps in the 2026 World Cup qualification matches, where Uganda played against Botswana and Algeria.
