Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has quashed rumors surrounding the potential departure of striker Eddie Nketiah in the upcoming January transfer window as Goal.com reports.
The English-Ghanaian forward, who has featured in 23 matches across all competitions this season, will not be sold or loaned out, as Arteta considers him a vital part of the squad.
In October, Arteta emphasized Nketiah’s goal-scoring prowess, stating, “He’s got an eye for goal. You look at his stats from the last 10 years. What he’s done is remarkable. He needs minutes, opportunities, and service. If he gets that, Eddie is going to score goals, that’s for sure. He’s a great player for Arsenal.”
According to Transfermarkt the striker’s current market value is estimated at €35 million. Despite reported interest from Premier League clubs Brentford and Crystal Palace, Arteta remains steadfast in his decision, highlighting Nketiah’s talent and incredible mentality. The 24-year-old forward has become an integral figure in Arsenal’s plans for the second half of the season.
The Gunners have also been linked with a move for Brentford’s star forward Ivan Toney. However, even if Toney were to join Arsenal, the club is determined to retain Nketiah, underscoring the importance of a strong bench as they aim to contend for the Premier League title.
