Reigning Greek champions AEK Athens are currently negotiating with Gambian U23 player Lamarana Jallow to activate the buy option clause of his loan agreement, potentially making his move to the club permanent, as per The Nerve Africa.
Lama was loaned to AEK from Elite United, with an option for a permanent transfer, following an unsuccessful stint with Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon from September 2021 to June 2023.
The former Gambian U20 midfielder has become a key player for the Athens B-team this season in Greek League 2. He has also been involved in several friendlies and matchday squads with the A-team.
This season, he has participated in at least 17 matches for the B-team in League 2, competing for 76% of the available minutes and contributing to 4% of the goals scored by the club, which currently holds third position in the table and is seeking promotion.
Following these performances, AEK have initiated negotiations to make Lama’s deal with the club permanent, provided all terms are agreed upon before June 2024.
The 22-year-old is valued at €150,000 according to Transfermarkt. If a deal is reached between Athens and his parent club Elite United, it could result in significant earnings for the latter.
