Gambian-decent midfielder Sulayman Marreh is set to join Hapoel Haifa FC in the Israeli top-tier club after the expiration of his contract with KAA Gent in Belgium.
The 27-year-old will join the Israeli club on a one-year contract with an option for a further year.
Marreh is one of the most-capped players with the Gambia senior national team making 30 appearances since 2011 and was a key part of the country’s historic qualification for their maiden AFCON two years ago.
Saul played 11 league matches for KAA Gent last season and rest of which were ruined by unwanted injuries. He won the Belgian Cup with Gent in 2022.
The former Granada, Almeria, Eupen, and Valladolid missed the Gambia’s second historic AFCON qualifiers last weekend’s 2-2 draw against Congo despite immensely contributing to the success of the earlier games.
Marreh has a market value of €500,000 and hopes to earn more game time to prepare ahead of the AFCON finals in Ivory Coast 2024.
