Abdullahi Bewene has committed his long-term future to FC Baník Ostrava after signing a new contract that will keep him at the Czech side until June 2031.
The agreement comes amid growing interest in the 21-year-old, who has reportedly attracted attention from clubs in France and Belgium following an impressive breakthrough season at club and international level.
Baník moved quickly to secure Bewene’s future after the versatile defender established himself as a key member of the first team. Primarily deployed at right-back, he has risen through the club’s youth system before becoming a regular in the senior squad.
His performances also earned him a first senior call-up to the Nigeria national football team earlier this year. Bewene made his Super Eagles debut in June and featured in friendly matches against Poland and Portugal, further enhancing his reputation as one of Nigeria’s emerging defensive talents.
Speaking after signing the extension, Bewene said the club’s faith in his development made the decision straightforward.
“I love the club, and they have always believed in me,” he told Footy-Africa. “I hope we can achieve great things together, win trophies and make our fans proud.”
