Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion are reportedly preparing a substantial offer for AIK teenager Zadok Yohanna, with the proposed deal potentially becoming the biggest transfer in Swedish football history, according to Expressen.
The highly-rated Nigerian youngster has emerged as one of the most sought-after prospects in Scandinavia following an impressive breakthrough campaign in the Allsvenskan, attracting interest from clubs across Europe.
Reports indicate Brighton are ready to table a bid worth between €22m and €23m (£19m-£20m), a figure that could surpass the current Swedish transfer record if the move is completed.
The Seagulls are understood to view the 18-year-old as one of their priority targets ahead of the summer transfer window, with the club continuing its strategy of investing in elite young talent from emerging markets.
Yohanna’s rapid rise has made him one of the standout stories of the Swedish season. His performances for AIK have drawn widespread attention from scouts and recruitment teams, with several European clubs monitoring his development closely.
The forward has recently been sidelined through injury, and AIK reportedly opted against releasing him for Nigeria youth-team duties in a move designed to protect both the player and a potential high-value transfer.
While Brighton appear to be among the frontrunners in the race for his signature, competition remains intense. A number of clubs from Europe’s top leagues are also tracking the teenager, leaving AIK with several possible options should formal offers arrive.
The structure of Brighton’s proposed package has not yet been disclosed, and it remains unclear how much of the fee would be guaranteed and how much would depend on performance-related bonuses.
Any agreement would require both clubs and the player to reach terms, but with transfer interest continuing to grow, Yohanna is expected to be one of the most closely watched names of the summer transfer market.
