Zamalek SC have ended their chase for Tanzanian striker Clément Mzize after failing to agree on a transfer fee with Young Africans SC, Footy-Africa has learned.
Although the 21-year-old was keen on a move to Cairo, the deal collapsed after Young Africans demanded €1.5 million—far above the €1 million Zamalek were willing to pay in two instalments.
“There was an agreement with the player, but the clubs couldn’t align on the fee,” a VoMa Sports Management source told Footy-Africa. “Unless Young Africans lower their demands, the move is off.”
Mzize has scored 18 goals and provided two assists in 16 matches this season, including five goals in the CAF Champions League. He boasts 33 goals in 50 games for Young Africans and has 10 international caps for Tanzania.
Libya’s Al-Ahly Tripoli and South Africa’s Orlando Pirates are still monitoring the forward.
