Following a formal agreement between Swedish side Landskrona BoIS and Kenyan forward Xavier Odhiambo on a contract extension, the player has pledged to help the club achieve promotion from the second tier into the Allsvenskan, Swedenโs top-flight league.
In an exclusive interview with Africa Foot, the 20-year-old, who has signed an extension until 2028, revealed that he intends to keep growing and developing into a feared striker, while helping his club reach promotion.
Odhiambo, a product of the clubโs academy, has had his breakthrough season and is now a force to be reckoned with. He has already showcased his qualities this campaign, scoring three goals and providing one assist in six games.
“I’m relieved that my near future has been secured, and now my only goal is to concentrate on improving my game. It feels incredibly great to extend for all these years,โ Odhiambo told Africa Foot in an exclusive interview.
โFrom my early days here, I’ve worked incredibly hard to play for the senior team, as I continue developing into a top playerโhopefully. So it’s nice that the work has eventually paid off. I’m going to keep fighting with the ambition that both I and BoIS will take new steps together,โ he added.
โThere are no limitations to what I can achieve together with this great team, including securing promotionโand thatโs my dream and goal. That way, I know there will be great exposure, and maybe I could play in the best leagues in the world.โ
Last season, Odhiambo was loaned to Rosengรฅrd, where he played six times and scored three goals. That followed six appearances for the Landskrona BoIS U21 team during the 2022/23 campaign.
Internationally, Odhiambo has progressed through various youth levels of Kenyaโs national teams, featuring for the U-17, U-21, and U-23 squads. However, he has yet to receive a competitive cap for the senior team, the Harambee Stars.
