Three days after the end of his loan spell at Swedish Division One side Ljungskile SK, Ugandan defender Ronald Brian Ddungu Mukiibi is set to join the club on a permanent basis, The Nerve Africa has exclusively learned.
Mukiibi had been on loan at Ljungskile SK from another Swedish outfit, Utsiktens BK, but the loan ended on Saturday. With his contract at Utsiktens also set to expire on December 31, the 33-year-old has opted to seek solace at Ljungskile.
He will return to Ljungskile during the January winter transfer window as a free agent, signing an initial one-year contract. Sources close to the player have confirmed that the defender turned down a new offer from his current parent club to join Ljungskile permanently.
βAt the moment, he (Mukiibi) is back at Utsiktens to see out his contract, which expires at the end of the year. Heβll rejoin Ljungskile in January, but this time on a permanent one-year deal. He has been happy there during his loan spell, getting minutes and playing well. He even declined a fresh offer from Utsiktens to make the move permanent,β a source told The Nerve Africa in an exclusive interview.
During his loan spell at Ljungskile, Mukiibi made 25 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing six assists. At Utsiktens, the right-back featured in 20 matches over two and a half seasons, registering one goal and two assists.
Mukiibi, whose Transfermarkt valuation is estimated at β¬100,000, has previously played for several Swedish clubs, including Degerfors IF, Hacken, Qviding FIF, and Ostersunds FK, where he achieved significant career milestones.
For the Uganda National Senior team, the Cranes, Mukiibiβwho debuted in 2019βhas earned eight competitive caps, scoring one goal.
