Highly-rated Ugandan international and youngster Allan Oyirwoth is on the verge of sealing a move to Swedish top-flight outfit Bollklubben Hacken, The Nerve Africa sources have exclusively learned.
The 17-year-old, who is currently unattached to any club, will be signing his first-ever professional contract after his engagements with the Uganda U20 team, the Hippos, who are currently in Tanzania for the Africa Cup of Nations Zonal qualifiers.
A source close to his representatives, FestoWeb Sports Management, revealed that the attacking midfielder will sign a long-term five-year contract. Part of the deal includes Oyirwoth moving to Sweden with a selected family member.
“Oyirwoth to Hacken should be considered done after last week’s negotiations. Unless something drastic happens, he will join them after his U20 exploits. It’s a deal that we feel best suits his development. In him, we see a whole project that can go all the way into the top leagues,” – the source told The Nerve Africa.
Earlier this year, Oyirwoth spent time at England’s Brooke House Academy, where he was groomed in preparation for the professional ranks. Last year in March, as a student at Amus College in Uganda, he was named the Teso Zone MVP in a tournament where he also led the goal-scoring charts in the zonal school competitions.
Later, in the National Football Championship, he was named MVP as St. Mary’s Secondary School, Kitende, won the trophy. Oyirwoth also finished as top scorer in the International Schools Football (ISF) championships and the East African Schools (FEASSSA) competition.
Despite his age, the versatile player has already featured for Uganda’s national senior team, the Cranes. He has accumulated two competitive caps, including an appearance in a World Cup qualification match against Somalia last year.
