Following his recovery from a long-term injury, Ugandan youngster Ibrahim Kasinde is set to join Spanish lower league outfit Club Deportivo Leganés B on a five-year contract, The Nerve Africa have exclusively learned.
Kasinde, who missed the entirety of the 2023/24 season due to a knee injury, has since recovered and secured a deal with the young Pepineros. The Nerve Africa sources at Prosper Sports Agency have exclusively confirmed the deal.
“We have worked tirelessly to ensure that he (Kasinde) first recovered from the injury that nearly ended his career. The next step was to find his next home, and we believe his progress will be better supported elsewhere, not in Uganda. He’ll sign for Leganés B for five years, provided he passes his medical and secures a work visa,” the source said.
This development refutes recent reports that had linked him to Uganda Premier League sides BUL FC and NEC FC. It was previously indicated that the latter had even tabled an offer of $12,000 (about Shs.44 million) as a sign-on fee, which his agency declined.
At CD Leganés B, the 20-year-old fleet-footed and fast-paced winger will join a familiar face in compatriot and left-back Ibrahim Juma Zoler, who has been with the team for the past one and a half seasons.
Meanwhile, Kasinde’s last competitive involvement came in the 2022-23 Uganda Premier League campaign with Soltilo Bright Stars FC, a team he played for over three successive years. During that period, he played 60 league matches, scoring six goals and assisting on 23 occasions.
Kasinde has previously represented Uganda at the U17 and U20 youth levels. He was part of the Uganda U20 team that played in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where they were eliminated by Nigeria U20 in the quarterfinals. He has yet to feature for the national senior team, the Cranes.
