Ugandan international defender Elio Capradossi is set to join one of two Romanian teams, CFR Cluj or Rapid Bucuresti, following confirmation of interest from both clubs, according to sources from The Nerve Africa.
The 28-year-old became a free agent after his contract with Italian Serie B side Lecco expired at the end of the 2023/24 season. Capradossi played for Lecco for one year. A representative from All4Football, who manages Capradossi, confirmed the interest from the Romanian clubs, stating that their decision will be based on the quality of the project rather than financial considerations.
“Elio (Capradossi) has received two significant offers from Cluj and Rapid Bucuresti. Our team is still evaluating the best project for his future. We want to see him advance his career. He’s an exceptional defender, so it’s not just about the money. We want him on the pitch,” the representative told The Nerve Africa in an interview.
Capradossi, whose TransferMarket valuation has dropped to €300,000, played only six matches for Lecco last season due to a series of injuries. Before that, he played 17 times for Cagliari during the 2022/23 campaign.
He has previously appeared for other Italian clubs, including SSC Bari, SPAL, Spezia, and AS Roma, where he spent his youth career. In total, he has played over 150 matches for these teams.
While Capradossi represented Italy at various youth levels, including U17, U19, and U20, he has switched to playing for Uganda at the senior international level. He debuted this year and has earned two caps so far, both in the 2026 World Cup qualification matches, where Uganda beat Botswana 1-0 and later lost to Algeria 2-1.
