After five years in the Uganda Premier League, attacking midfielder Bright Anukani feels ready to take the next step into the European football world, The Nerve Africa has exclusively learned.
The 23-year-old, who has spent the past three seasons with six-time Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC, will see his contract expire at the end of the current campaign.
In an exclusive interview, Anukani expressed his desire to test deeper waters abroad, stating:
βIt’s time for me to take on a new and bigger opportunity in Europe or somewhere more competitive. Vipers is still family, everything is still open, but my priority is to move to professional ranks. That’s my dream, and I’m ready to take it on”.
However, Anukani declined to specify a potential destination, leaving rumors of a move to Czech side Viktoria Zizkov open. Zizkov has dominated the news recently as suitors.
Anukani is a two-time Uganda Premier League and Uganda Cup champion with Vipers. He has played 72 league matches across three seasons, scoring ten times and assisting on 22 occasions. He has also featured in two CAF Champions League campaigns with his current team.
Besides Vipers, he has previously played for 13-time Uganda Premier League champions KCCA FC (2020/2021) and his boyhood team Proline Football Club (2019/2020).
Despite being just 23, Anukani, whose biggest attributes are playmaking and creativity, has amassed 22 international caps with the Uganda National Senior team, the Cranes, scoring four goals.
