Medeama SC announced today that midfielder Jean Vital Ourega and the club have mutually agreed to terminate his contract, effectively ending his time with the Ghanaian champions, Ghana Soccernet reports.ย
The 28-year-old Ivorian, who played a pivotal role in Medeamaโs successful campaign last season, leaves the club after extending his contract for an additional year in 2022 following his initial two-year agreement.
A statement from the club expressed gratitude towards Ouregaโs contributions:ย
“We part ways on mutual terms and would like to thank Vital for his significant contributions to Medeama. He has been instrumental in our achievements, including winning the 2022-23 Ghana Premier League and reaching the group stages of the CAF Champions League. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”
Prior to joining Medeama, Ourega had a notable stint at Karela United and played for TP Mazembe, one of Congoโs top clubs.ย
During his time in the Ghanaian top-flight, he made 35 appearances, scoring 3 goals, and provided 13 assists, earning 4 MVP titles. His extensive career also includes spells with Ivorian teams African Sports and AS Denguele, Zambiaโs Buildcon FC, and Rayon Sports of Rwanda.
