Lamin Jawara, the former Gambia U20 defender, is on the brink of sealing a transfer to Lithuanian Liga A club DFK Dainava Alytus, according to The Nerve Africa sources.
The move comes as Jawara looks to revitalize his career after a challenging stint with Denmark’s Viborg FF. Having joined the club in February 2022 from Gambia’s Hawks FC, Jawara struggled to secure regular playing time, featuring only once in two years.
Seeking more opportunities on the field, the agile defender embarked on a loan spell with Danish fourth-tier club Holstelbro BK in January 2023. During his time there, Jawara enjoyed significantly more game time, showcasing his skills in numerous matches.
Now, the 21-year-old finds himself in Lithuania, aiming to reignite his promising career. Following his release from Viborg FF in September 2023, Jawara enters the Lithuanian football scene as a free agent. He has no estimated current market value, but Transfermarkt reports the highest price tag of his career at €50,000.
