At least six people died in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, on Friday after torrential rains caused flooding across the city, police spokesman Charles Owino said.
The dead include a pedestrian who was killed when a wall collapsed, while two people lost their lives when the vehicles they were traveling in were swept away by flood waters, Owino said by phone Saturday from the city. An unconfirmed number of people also died when a six-story building collapsed at Huruma on the outskirts of the city centre, he said.
The death toll from the flooding is at least 14, with seven people having died in the collapsed building, Xinhua reported, citing Nairobi police commander Japheth Koome.
